Haber Wash not only stains interior surfaces like kitchen cabinets, staircases, and doors, we also stain a variety of exterior surfaces to withstand even the harshest of Hudson Valley winters.

While paints coat a surface with a protective film, our stains penetrate into the wood itself. When applied properly by experienced contractors like Haber Wash, stains are lower in maintenance than paints. Stain does not peel or blister, and generally looks good even while naturally wearing away.

Transparent and semi-transparent stains look fantastic on wood in good condition. The underlying wood grain still shows through, but the stain also shows the wood’s character in defects or discolorations. Such stains should only be used on new or previously stained wood.

Solid stains are generally soft, and Haber Wash does not recommend them for staining a floor, deck, or other high traffic areas.

However, on vertical surfaces, we find solid stains last longer than semi-transparent. Solid stains do not soak into the wood, and can be used over bare or previously stained, primed or painted surfaces.
